What is a commercial pipe bending machine?
A pipe bending machine forms straight pipe or tube into curves. A ram bender presses the pipe against dies. A rotary draw bender clamps the pipe and pulls it around a bend die while a pressure die keeps it on the curve. For thin walls or tight radii, a mandrel inside the pipe and a wiper die behind the bend stop it from collapsing or wrinkling. An induction bender heats a narrow band of pipe with a coil, pushes the pipe through and cools the bend, and needs no mandrel or bend die. Fabricators, boiler makers and piping contractors use these machines for handrails, frames, boiler tubes and pipelines.
This page covers commercial and industrial machines that bend pipe and tube for fabrication shops, plants and pipeline work; hand-held plumber's benders and home-workshop benders are not covered.
How diipl verifies pipe bending machine manufacturers
diipl checks every pipe bending machine manufacturer before a buyer meets them. Every seller is GSTIN verified and capacity audited. IEC and the certifications your product and market need (ISO, CE, REACH, BIS) are confirmed before any meeting; Certificate of Origin and EIC inspection are arranged per shipment where required.
For pipe bending machines, the capacity audit also covers:
- A live trial bend on pipe or tube like yours, in the same size, wall and material, with the angle, centreline radius, ovality and wall thinning measured and recorded
- The bend, clamp, pressure and wiper dies and the mandrels for each size and radius in the offer, checked on the floor against the die drawings and fitted to a machine
- On an NC or CNC machine, a part with several bends run from a stored program, with the bend, feed and rotation axes moving and a springback correction entered on the controller
- On a hydraulic machine, the pump, valves, hoses and cylinders run at rated pressure without leaks; on an induction machine, the inductor, power unit, cooling and temperature scanner run under load
- In-house machining and welding of the bed, arms and tooling plates, with the guards, interlocks, emergency stops and electrical panel inspected and working
We match your requirement to a manufacturer that has passed these checks and arrange a direct meeting.
Types of pipe bending machines we cover
Indian pipe bending machine manufacturers on the diipl bench build these commercial and industrial types.
| Type | Typical buyers |
|---|---|
| Hydraulic ram pipe bending machine | Workshops making simple cold bends in gas, water and steam pipe |
| Programmable rotary draw pipe bending machine | Fabrication shops that bend repeat jobs in pipe and tube without a mandrel |
| NC mandrel tube bending machine | Makers of exhaust systems, roll cages, chassis parts and furniture frames |
| All-electric CNC mandrel tube bending machine | Shops that make tube parts with several bends each and want CNC control |
| Servo-hydraulic CNC mandrel pipe bending machine | Shops that bend large-diameter tube and pipe for industrial use |
| Induction pipe bending machine | Makers of bends for petrochemical, power, oil and gas, offshore and shipbuilding piping |
Hydraulic ram pipe bending machine
A hydraulic ram bender bends pipe cold. One ram kit is rated at 13 tonne with a 250 mm stroke and comes with dies for pipe from 1/2 inch to 2 inch, for gas, water, steam, black iron, galvanised and schedule 40 pipe, bending up to 90 degrees. Choose it for simple bends in maintenance and fabrication work, and ask the builder for the die list, ram force and stroke.
Programmable rotary draw pipe bending machine
The pipe is drawn around a rotating bend die while a counter die pushes back. Programmable models set bend angles, apply springback compensation and recall programs, but the operator loads the stock. One maker's shop models take tube up to 2 or 2-1/2 inch and schedule 40 pipe up to 1-1/2 or 2 inch, and a larger model takes 6 inch tube and 6 inch schedule 40 pipe, on hydraulic or electromechanical drives. Choose it for repeat bends.
NC mandrel tube bending machine
A numerically controlled bender that can run with a mandrel. One electric NC series lists four models from 50.8 mm to 88.9 mm outside diameter, in mild steel walls of 2.0 to 2.5 mm. The operator enters up to 10 bends in a program, stores 10 programs, and fastens each tube by hand. Accuracy is listed at plus or minus 0.1 mm for bending and feed and 0.1 degree for rotation. Choose it for small batches.
All-electric CNC mandrel tube bending machine
Servo-electric CNC mandrel benders with every axis electrically driven and individually programmable. One series lists nine models for tube from 6 mm up to 150 mm outside diameter, with mild steel capacity from 22 x 2 mm to 150 x 3 mm. Each bending head can carry at least two bending planes, and the bending axis runs from 300 degrees per second on the smallest model to 65 on the largest. Choose it for all-electric CNC bending.
Servo-hydraulic CNC mandrel pipe bending machine
A servo motor controls the hydraulic pump of this CNC mandrel bender. One series lists nine models, with mild steel capacity from 42 x 4 mm up to 273 x 16 mm on its second-largest model; stainless steel takes a thinner wall at the same diameter. Usable length is 4572 mm (6096 mm with special equipment) on smaller models and 6096 mm on larger ones.
Induction pipe bending machine
An induction ring heats a narrow hot band of the pipe, a precise drive pushes the pipe through, and the heated section bends to the radius set by a clamp on a rotating arm. Water, air or ambient air then cools the bend. No bend dies, mandrels or lubricants are needed, and bends can carry straight tangents, which cuts welds. Choose it for pipe in petrochemical, power, oil and gas, offshore and shipbuilding work.
What to specify when buying a pipe bending machine
A clear pipe bending machine specification gets you comparable offers and a faster meeting. Share these points with diipl and we match them to the right manufacturer.
| What to specify | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Pipe or tube size, wall and material | Tube is specified by outside diameter, pipe by nominal size and schedule. One maker rates capacity at a stated pipe grade with 48,000 psi tensile strength; stronger or heavier stock lowers it. |
| Largest size and wall for each material | One servo-hydraulic series rates its second-largest model at 273 x 16 mm in mild steel and allows a thinner wall in stainless steel at the same diameter. Match your thickest job to the rating. |
| Tightest centreline radius | A common starting point without a mandrel is 1.5 to 2 times the outside diameter. Tighter radii, down to 1 times the diameter or less, need a mandrel and often a wiper die. State your tightest bend. |
| Tooling set: bend die, clamp die, pressure die, wiper die and mandrel | The bend die sets the radius, the clamp die grips the tube, the pressure die presses it into the bend die, and the wiper die and mandrel support the inside. Ask for the tooling supplied for each size and radius. |
| Control level: manual, NC or CNC, and springback correction | Programmable models can set bend angles, apply springback compensation and recall stored programs, but the operator still loads and positions the stock between bends. Programmable angle control is not full CNC control of feeding and rotation. |
| Number of controlled axes and drive type | One all-electric series drives up to 9 axes on servo motors with absolute encoder feedback. Ask how many axes your parts need and whether the drive is electric, hydraulic or servo-hydraulic. |
| Accuracy of bend angle, rotation and feed | One NC series lists bending accuracy of plus or minus 0.1 mm, rotation accuracy of plus or minus 0.1 degree and feeding accuracy of plus or minus 0.1 mm. Ask for accuracy proved on a part of yours. |
| Longest part the machine can bend | Check the usable length against your longest part. One servo-hydraulic series lists 4572 mm, or 6096 mm with special equipment, on its smaller models and 6096 mm on the larger ones. |
| Bending speed and cycle time | Speed falls as tube size grows. One electric CNC series lists a bending axis speed of 300 degrees per second on its smallest model and 65 degrees per second on its largest. Work out your cycle time for your size. |
| Allowed ovality at the bend | With no support inside the pipe, a ram bender leaves an oval cross section, so it suits only jobs where that does not matter. Write down your ovality limit and how a trial bend is measured. |
| Ram force, stroke and dies (ram benders) | One ram kit is rated at 13 tonne with a 250 mm stroke and dies from 1/2 inch to 2 inch, for walls of 2.75 to 4.5 mm. Ask for ram force, stroke and die list on any ram bender. |
| Induction machine range, angle and thinning control | One induction maker's standard range starts at 25 mm outside diameter and bends up to 180 degrees. Its machine page lists active control of ovality and wall thinning, heat treatment of the bend legs and automatic pipe loading. |
| Induction bending temperature control | Bending temperature must stay within tight limits. One maker adjusts induction power automatically from temperature scans of the hottest point, which matters most for clad pipe, duplex pipe and higher X-grade pipe. Ask how temperature is controlled. |
| Guarding, interlocks and emergency stops | ANSI B11.15-2022 is written for power-driven machines that bend bar, pipe, tube and shapes, including draw, compression and stretch benders and vertical and horizontal hydraulic benders. Ask what guarding comes fitted and which safety standard the design follows. |

HSN code and ITC-HS code for pipe bending machines
The code for pipe bending machines depends on whether the pipe bending machine is numerically controlled or not. Choose the line that matches your machine:
- 84625100 (numerically controlled) when the pipe bending machine is numerically controlled.
- 84625900 (other, within subheading 846259: machine-tools; for working tube, pipe, hollow section and bar (excluding presses), for working metal, not numerically controlled) when the pipe bending machine is not numerically controlled, for example a hydraulic bender worked by a hand pump.
Tube and pipe bending machines have their own group in the bending heading, for machines that work tube, pipe, hollow section and bar, separate from the group for flat products. Inside that group the line splits on whether the machine is numerically controlled. A small hydraulic bender worked by a hand pump falls in the line for other machines, and a CNC mandrel bender falls in the numerically controlled line. For a machine that heats the pipe by induction before bending, no official text settles the line.
In India the GST HSN code and the export ITC-HS code come from the same nomenclature. A GST invoice needs only the first 4 or 6 digits, depending on your turnover; the export shipping bill carries the full 8-digit ITC-HS line. The classification is shown here; the applicable GST rate is not. Official source.

A classification is a fact any lookup can give you. The correct code still does not tell you which countries are buying pipe bending machines right now, what duty each of them charges on the Indian line, or whether that demand is growing or fading. Those answers come from trade data, not from a code table, and they decide whether a market is worth entering. diipl's free Market Research Report answers them for your machine.

Buying a pipe bending machine in India
- The GST invoice should name the machine type and model and list the dies, mandrels and wiper dies supplied with it, so the tooling you paid for is on paper.
- On a die bender, order bend dies for every pipe size and radius you will bend, because the bend die sets the radius and the machine cannot make a part without the matching die.
- Put installation and commissioning in the contract: floor and foundation readiness, levelling, the power connection, hydraulic oil fill where it applies, and a trial bend on your own pipe before sign-off.
- Book operator training on site covering how to enter bend data, set springback for each material, change tooling and run the machine safely.
- Keep spare wiper dies, mandrels, seals and hoses in stock, and agree a response time for service visits at your plant.
- Plan delivery and placing: transport for a heavy machine, a crane or forklift for unloading, and how long delivery takes from order to dispatch. Ask for the weight and footprint drawing before you order.
Buying from Indian pipe bending machine exporters
- For the European Union, CE marking is applied only after testing, and the machine should arrive with a declaration of conformity and instructions for use. Ask how the clamp, pressure die, bend head and feed carriage are guarded and which safety standard the design follows.
- For North America, ask your safety team whether it works to the safety standard written for bar, pipe and tube bending machines, and ask the maker to show how the design compares.
- Give the maker your site voltage, phases and frequency, in words, so the pump motor or servo drives and the control panel are built to match, and ask for the panel drawings.
- Send drawings of the bent parts, with pipe size, wall, material and every bend radius, before the order, because the tooling is made to match. Ask for a witnessed trial bend on your own pipe, by video or in person, before dispatch.
- For pipeline bends, ask the maker to show bends made on the machine and measured for ovality and wall thickness against the induction bend standard your project names.
- Agree the Incoterm and who unloads and lifts the machine at your site. Request a packing list that shows the bend head, tooling set, hydraulic unit and control cabinet crate by crate, and a Certificate of Origin if your import rules call for one.
Standards and certifications for pipe bending machines
Pipe Bending Machines for each market must meet that market's rules. diipl confirms the certifications your market needs before any meeting. Each requirement below links to its official source.
| Indian standard or rule | What it covers | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| IS 16504 (Part 1):2019Safety of Machinery: Electrical Equipment of Machines, Part 1 General Requirements (First Revision) | A general standard for the electrical equipment of machines, dual-numbered with IEC 60204-1:2016, not written for pipe benders. Check with the maker whether the panel, motors and wiring of the machine follow it. | View source |
| Export requirement | Region | What it means | Official source |
|---|---|---|---|
| CE marking route for a pipe or tube bender | European Union | CE marking can be affixed only after testing the machine and finishing the conformity procedure. For a bender, ask how the bend head, clamp, pressure die and feed carriage are guarded, and ask to see the declaration of conformity and the instructions for use. | View source |
| ANSI B11.15-2022 safety requirements for bar, pipe, tube and shape bending machines | North America | Applies to any power-driven machine designed for bending bar, pipe, tube and shapes. The machine types listed include vertical and horizontal hydraulic benders, compression, draw and stretch benders, pipe benders and tube benders. Ask the buyer whether its safety team works to it. | View source |
| ISO 15590-1:2024 induction bends for pipeline transportation systems | International | A bend standard, not a machine standard. It sets technical delivery conditions for induction bends made from seamless and welded unalloyed or low-alloy steel pipe for petroleum and natural gas pipelines, with two product specification levels. Ask the buyer whether the bends it makes must meet it. | View source |

Pipe Bending Machine: frequently asked questions
Who makes pipe bending machines in India?
diipl does not publish manufacturer names. You tell diipl the pipe or tube size, wall, material, tightest radius and the type of bender, and diipl matches a manufacturer that has passed GSTIN verification and a capacity audit. For a bender, the audit includes a live trial bend on pipe like yours and a look at the dies and the hydraulic or servo drive. diipl also checks the Importer Exporter Code and the certificates the buyer's region asks for, then arranges a direct meeting.
What should I specify when buying a commercial pipe bending machine?
Give the pipe or tube size, wall, material and strength, the tightest centreline radius and the bend angles. Add the longest part, the bends per part, whether a mandrel is needed, the control level (manual, NC or CNC), the drive (hydraulic, electric or servo-hydraulic), your power supply and the guarding you want. Pipe is specified by nominal size and schedule, tube by outside diameter.
Which standards or certifications apply to pipe bending machines?
The electrical panel can be checked against IS 16504 (Part 1):2019, the Indian standard for the electrical equipment of machines. For export, buyers in the European Union look for CE marking with a declaration of conformity, and buyers in North America may ask about a safety standard written for pipe, tube and bar bending machines. Induction bends for pipelines have their own bend standard. diipl checks the certificates your market asks for before the meeting.
What is the HSN code for pipe bending machines?
The code for pipe bending machines depends on whether the pipe bending machine is numerically controlled or not: 84625100 when the pipe bending machine is numerically controlled; 84625900 when the pipe bending machine is not numerically controlled, for example a hydraulic bender worked by a hand pump. The export shipping bill carries the full 8-digit line and a GST invoice its first 4 or 6 digits, depending on your turnover, so confirm the line for your exact machine before you file. The HS code finder lists every 8-digit line.
Can Indian manufacturers export pipe bending machines?
Yes, if the machine meets the buyer's region. Overseas buyers of a bender usually ask for CE marking and a declaration of conformity for the European Union, an answer on the safety standard for North America, a match to their voltage and frequency, a tooling and spares list, a witnessed trial bend and remote help with the controller. diipl checks the manufacturer's Importer Exporter Code and certificates before a meeting.
Which industries buy pipe bending machines?
Boiler and heat exchanger makers, automotive and vehicle component makers, furniture and tubular frame makers, handrail and building frame fabricators, shipbuilders, machine builders making conveyors and frames, and piping contractors and pipeline bend producers in power, refinery, oil and gas work all buy them. Any shop that forms pipe or tube in volume is a likely buyer.
I manufacture pipe bending machines. How do I find verified buyers?
diipl first sorts buyers by the type of bender, because a boiler tube shop, a furniture frame maker and a pipeline bend producer need very different machines: a CNC mandrel bender, a simple rotary draw bender or an induction machine. It then runs outreach to the right groups and regions and checks each buyer's real requirement, budget, decision maker and timeline before arranging a direct meeting with you. Your name and contact details are never published.
Do I need a mandrel, or will a plain rotary draw bender do?
Rotary draw bending can work without a mandrel when the material, wall and radius allow it. A common starting point is a centreline radius of 1.5 to 2 times the outside diameter. Tighter bends, down to 1 times the diameter or less, need a mandrel and often a wiper die, and so do thin walls and strict ovality limits. Ask for a trial bend on your own tube.
How long a part can a CNC pipe bender make, and how fast does it bend?
Usable length is a machine figure. One servo-hydraulic series lists 4572 mm, or 6096 mm with special equipment, on its smaller models and 6096 mm on the larger ones. Bending speed falls as the tube grows: the same series lists 75 degrees per second on its smallest model and 3 degrees per second on its largest. Work out your longest part and cycle time before choosing.
Should I buy a hydraulic, all-electric or hybrid CNC bender?
One guide to CNC tube benders describes all-electric machines as precise and energy efficient, hydraulic machines as powerful and suited to heavy-duty work, and hybrid machines, which combine electric and hydraulic technology, as flexible. It says hydraulic systems handle thicker material and complex bends, while all-electric systems use less power. Give each maker your thickest tube and tightest radius and ask for a trial bend.
How heavy is an NC mandrel bender, and what floor and power does it need?
Ask for weight, footprint and power data before you order. One NC rotary draw series lists machine weights from 8818 to 23148 pounds (about 4 to 10.5 tonnes) and overall sizes in feet, up to 23 in the longest dimension, so the floor and the way you unload matter. Get foundation and layout drawings, and state your voltage, phases and frequency, before the machine arrives.
