Verified Mining Machinery Manufacturers in India
Mining machinery is the set of drills, loaders, haul trucks and ore separators that open-cast mines, underground mines and quarries run. Mine owners and contractors buy it. diipl takes them to a verified Indian maker and books a first meeting.
Also called: mining equipment, coal mining machinery, underground mining equipment, mineral processing equipment.

What is a commercial mining machinery?
Mining machinery is the equipment that breaks, moves and sorts rock and ore at a mine. In a surface mine, crawler drills make the blast holes, shovels load the broken rock and large rear dump trucks carry it away. In an underground mine the loaders and trucks are low and narrow so they fit the roadways, and they must meet strict rules on fire, gas and exhaust. Once ore reaches the surface, separators such as jigs, spirals and magnetic machines take waste out of the wanted mineral. Each machine is built for its own rock, roadway width, haul distance and safety law, so a buyer should give a written specification.
Commercial and industrial machines for mines and quarries are covered here; crushers and screens, general construction machines, hobby kits and computers used to mine digital coins are not.
How diipl verifies mining machinery manufacturers
diipl checks every mining machinery manufacturer before a buyer meets them. Every seller is GSTIN verified and capacity audited. IEC and the certifications your product and market need (ISO, CE, REACH, BIS) are confirmed before any meeting; Certificate of Origin and EIC inspection are arranged per shipment where required.
For mining machinery, the capacity audit also covers:
- A no-load and a load test of a finished machine on the works floor: travel, steering, braking, boom lift and bucket tip or truck body hoist, with control forces and cycle times written down.
- Weld and plate inspection on the bucket, boom, frame, articulation joint or truck body, with records of the steel used and the wear plates fitted.
- A hydraulic pressure test of pumps, cylinders and hose assemblies at rated pressure, with no leaks and with hoses of a type the mine authority accepts.
- For a machine meant for a gassy coal mine, certificates and test-house reports on file that match the markings on every flameproof enclosure.
- A dismantling check: the machine comes apart into pieces small enough for a mine cage or ramp and goes back together with hand tools.
We match your requirement to a manufacturer that has passed these checks and arrange a direct meeting.
Types of mining machinery we cover
Indian mining machinery manufacturers on the diipl bench build these commercial and industrial types.
| Type | Typical buyers |
|---|---|
| Crawler blast hole drill | Open-cast mine operators, mining contractors and quarry owners who drill and blast their own rock |
| Load-haul-dump loader for underground mines | Underground coal and metal mine operators and mining contractors |
| Side discharge loader | Underground coal mine operators working bord and pillar workings, and underground metal mine operators |
| Rigid rear dump truck for open-cast mines | Open-cast coal and metal mine operators and mining contractors |
| Mineral separators for washing and beneficiation plants | Owners of ore washing and beneficiation plants, and mine operators who upgrade their own ore |
Crawler blast hole drill
A self-propelled crawler rig that drills the blast holes of an open-cast mine and is run by one operator. One maker's diesel-powered rotary model drills 160 mm holes with an engine of at least 200 kW net, a dust control system and a cab certified against falling objects. A DTH rig is the other common type; see the checklist for its air supply. Choose by hole diameter, depth and rock.
Load-haul-dump loader for underground mines
A self-propelled loader with a front bucket that scoops broken rock, carries it to a tipping point and dumps it, so one machine loads and hauls. The Indian loader standard puts front or side tipping loaders, including load-haul-dump loaders, in one class, and classes all its loaders by power (compressed air, electric, flameproof electric or diesel) and by travel mode (rail, rubber tyres or crawlers). Choose it when the rock must be carried some distance to the next transfer point.
Side discharge loader
A loader whose bucket tips to the side to load the transport that carries the rock away. In the Indian loader standard's dimension table, crawler-mounted front or side tipping loaders carry buckets from 0.2 to 1.5 cubic metres. BIS also issues a separate code of practice for side discharge loaders in underground coal mines. Choose by bucket size, roadway width and the transport the loader must fill.
Rigid rear dump truck for open-cast mines
A rigid-frame truck whose body tips backwards, used with a shovel or excavator to carry coal, ore and waste out of the pit. The coal sector's technology roadmap calls the shovel and dumper pairing the most sought-after open-cast technology and names 100, 150, 190 and 240 tonne dumpers in use. Choose the payload to suit the shovel bucket and the haul road.
Mineral separators for washing and beneficiation plants
Machines that separate wanted mineral from waste in a washing or beneficiation plant. The ore dressing division of the Indian Bureau of Mines reports tests on Indian iron ore samples using jigging, tabling, spirals, hydrocyclones, wet high-intensity magnetic separation and flotation. Choose the machine by the ore, the particle size and the grade you must reach.
What to specify when buying a mining machinery
A clear mining machinery specification gets you comparable offers and a faster meeting. Share these points with diipl and we match them to the right manufacturer.
| What to specify | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Roadway width and headroom at the working place | For underground loaders the Indian standard's dimension table gives a maximum width and tramming height for each bucket size range. Send your roadway width and headroom first, so the maker offers a machine that fits. |
| Loader bucket size, heaped, in cubic metres | The Indian loader standard names a loader by its heaped bucket size, chosen from a preferred series that runs from 0.100 to 3.15 cubic metres. Give your rock density and shift target and ask the maker to match a bucket. |
| Power source and travel mode | The standard classes loaders by power (compressed air, electric, flameproof electric or diesel) and by travel (rail, rubber tyres or crawlers). Your choice decides what the mine must supply: air, a trailing cable and reel, or fuel and exhaust control. |
| Working gradient of the roadway | The standard lists safe working inclinations by mounting: 1 in 50 on rail, 1 in 6 on rubber tyres and 1 in 4 on crawlers. If your roadway is steeper, agree the limit with the maker in writing. |
| Diesel engine type and exhaust limits | For diesel loaders the standard asks for a flameproof engine with heat exchangers and exhaust conditioners, and caps carbon monoxide at 1,500 ppm and oxides of nitrogen at 1,000 ppm at the exhaust manifold. Ask for the test record. |
| Brakes, operator seat and overhead canopy | For front or side tipping loaders the standard asks for an operator seat and for service and parking brakes, with the parking brake applying itself if power fails, and for a canopy against falling objects when the buyer asks. State which you need. |
| Flameproof and intrinsically safe electrics for gassy coal mines | The draft DGMS approval table lists flameproof and intrinsically safe equipment for underground coal mines under the IS/IEC 60079 series and marks a BIS licence as required for indigenously made products. Ask for the approval and licence papers. |
| Dismantling into pieces that go down the mine | The standard asks that a loader can be taken apart into reasonably sized sub-assemblies, moved into the mine and rebuilt with simple hand tools. Compare the weight and size of the largest piece with your cage, shaft or ramp. |
| Blast hole diameter, depth and bench height | The Indian Minerals Yearbook records benches 10 to 12 m high in mechanised iron ore mines, drilled with crawler drills making 300 mm holes to 12 m depth. Your hole size and depth set the rig class, rods and power. |
| Rotary drill engine power, cab and dust control | One maker's 160 mm crawler rotary drill lists a diesel engine of at least 200 kW net, a cab certified against falling objects and a dust control system. Ask for the same three items for your hole size. |
| DTH air supply and dust separation | One Indian maker describes its crawler DTH cabin drill for 115 mm holes as a 200 psi machine with a dust separation system. A DTH hammer needs a driving fluid such as compressed air, so ask what pressure your hole size needs and whether the compressor is on the rig. |
| Haul truck payload class | The coal sector's roadmap names rear dumpers of 100, 150, 190 and 240 tonnes in use. Pick the payload so a shovel fills the truck in a few passes and the haul road carries the loaded weight. |
| Separator type, feed size and throughput | One maker lists nominal capacities for wet high-intensity magnetic separators of 6 to 25 tonnes per hour, and up to 50 tonnes per hour with a wider rotor for iron ore fines. Give the ore, feed size, throughput and target grade. |
| Marking plate and data sheet supplied with the machine | The standard asks for a plate with the maker, type, serial number, month and year, and any flameproof marking, plus a data list covering weight, bucket width, breakout force and lifting time. Ask for both with the machine. |

HSN code and ITC-HS code for mining machinery
The code for mining machinery depends on which machine it is, because a blast hole drill, a loader, a dump truck and a mineral separator each fall under a different heading, and no official text settles the line for a side discharge loader. Choose the line that matches your machine:
- 84304130 (rock drilling machinery) when the machine is a self propelled rig that drills blast holes in rock.
- 84295100 (front-end shovel loaders) when the machine is a self propelled loader with a front mounted bucket that picks up, carries and discharges broken rock.
- 87041010 (with net weight (excluding pay-load) exceeding 8 tonnes and maximum pay-load capacity not less than 10 tonnes) when the machine is a rigid or articulated dump truck built for use off the public road and its net weight without load and its pay load are above the thresholds in the national line, as for a mine haul truck.
- 87041090 (other, within subheading 870410: vehicles; dumpers, designed for off-highway use, for transport of goods) when the dump truck is smaller than the first national dumper line, below its net weight or pay load thresholds.
- 84741090 (other, within subheading 847410: machines; for sorting, screening, separating or washing earth, stone, ores or other mineral substances) when the separator works on ore or other mineral substances other than coal.
- 84741010 (for coal) when the separator works on coal.
Mining machinery has no single heading in the tariff, so the line follows the machine. A self propelled rig that drills blast holes falls in the boring machinery subheading, a loader with a front bucket in the shovel loader subheading, a large rigid dump truck in the off highway dumper subheading of the motor vehicle chapter, and a jig, spiral, flotation or magnetic separator in the heading for machinery that separates ores. An underground side discharge loader, whose bucket tips to the side, has no official text that decides between the front end shovel loader line and the other shovel loader line.
In India the GST HSN code and the export ITC-HS code come from the same nomenclature. A GST invoice needs only the first 4 or 6 digits, depending on your turnover; the export shipping bill carries the full 8-digit ITC-HS line. The classification is shown here; the applicable GST rate is not. Official source.
A classification is a fact any lookup can give you. The correct code still does not tell you which countries are buying mining machinery right now, what duty each of them charges on the Indian line, or whether that demand is growing or fading. Those answers come from trade data, not from a code table, and they decide whether a market is worth entering. diipl's free Market Research Report answers them for your machine.

Buying a mining machinery in India
- Get a GST invoice under the maker's own GSTIN that lists the model, mounting and serial number, and file the test records, manual and spare parts list with it.
- For an underground mine, settle permissions before you order. The Indian loader standard says the user must get the competent authority's approval before a loader is installed, and the draft DGMS approval policy lists machines that need DGMS approval by special order. Ask which approvals the model already holds.
- Do not accept design changes after approval. The draft DGMS policy says approved equipment must match the tested sample in material, design and construction, and a change needs fresh testing and written approval.
- Check the machine can reach the working place: get the size and weight of the largest piece after dismantling and compare it with your cage, shaft or ramp.
- Write commissioning into the contract: a trial run in your own ground, and training for operators and fitters. Also decide who supplies compressed air, power cable or fuel.
- Fix the wear parts and service plan in writing: bucket cutting edges and teeth, drill bits and hammers, tyres, and hydraulic hoses of a type the mine authority accepts, plus a service contact who can reach the mine.
Buying from Indian mining machinery exporters
- Tell the maker whether your underground mine has firedamp or combustible dust. That decides whether the engine, motors and electrics need Group I type-examination certificates under the European ATEX rules.
- Ask which safety standard the machine follows. The international standard for self-propelled underground mobile machines leaves out drill rigs, rail-bound machines and continuous miners, so ask a drill rig maker which other standard it followed.
- Ask for roll-over and falling-object protection test reports for loaders and trucks. The European machinery rules list these protective structures as their own categories.
- Match the supply. An electric loader takes power through a trailing cable and reel, so give your mine's voltage and frequency in words and the cable coupler type; a diesel machine needs your fuel grade and exhaust rules.
- Plan transport early. Large machines ship dismantled, so ask for pieces sized for your shaft, ramp or cage, a lifting plan, and a clear split of who unloads under the Incoterm you choose.
- Send your rock type, hole size, seam height and gradient, and ask for rated figures at those conditions. Add wear parts, a starter spares kit and remote support to the order.
Standards and certifications for mining machinery
Mining Machinery for each market must meet that market's rules. diipl confirms the certifications your market needs before any meeting. Each requirement below links to its official source.

| IS 7209:1974General requirements for blast hole drilling rigs | A 1974 BIS product specification titled General requirements for blast hole drilling rigs, issued by its diamond core and waterwell drilling committee. The BIS page shows no revision and no reaffirmation year, so ask the maker whether a blast hole rig follows it and check with BIS that it is still in force. | View source |
| DGMS approval (Coal Mines Regulations, 2017; Metalliferous Mines Regulations, 1961)Approval of equipment, machinery, materials and appliances for use in mines by the Chief Inspector of Mines (Director General of Mines Safety) | A DGMS note on its draft revised approval policy says the Chief Inspector of Mines may approve specific equipment for use in coal and metal mines. Its table of equipment needing approval by special order lists battery underground locomotives, diesel-operated machines, and flameproof or intrinsically safe machines for underground coal mines. Approval for a field trial may come first, with regular approval after a satisfactory field trial report. The final policy may differ from the draft. | View source |

| EU machinery rules for underground work: Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, Annex I | European Union | Annex I Part B point 12 lists two categories of machinery for underground working: locomotives and brake-vans, and hydraulic-powered roof supports. Roll-over protective structures and falling-object protective structures are separate categories (points 18 and 19). Loaders, drill rigs, haul trucks and ore separators are not named in Parts A or B, so ask your importer which conformity route applies. The Regulation applies from 20 January 2027; machinery placed on the market before then follows Directive 2006/42/EC. | View source |
| ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, equipment-group I for underground mines | European Union | Group I covers equipment for underground parts of mines, and surface parts of such mines, that firedamp or combustible dust may endanger. Category M1 equipment must stay functional with an explosive atmosphere present. Category M2 equipment is designed to be de-energised when an explosive atmosphere occurs. A machine for a gassy mine needs the matching category. | View source |
| ISO 19296:2018 safety standard for mobile machines working underground | International | ISO 19296:2018 sets safety requirements for self-propelled mobile machines used in underground mining. It leaves out rail-bound machines, continuous miners, roadheaders, drill rigs, conveyors, longwall equipment, tunnel boring machines and mobile crushers, and it does not add the extra rules for explosive atmospheres. | View source |

Mining Machinery: frequently asked questions
Who makes mining machinery in India?
diipl keeps maker names off this page. Describe your mine, the machine and your rock, seam height or hole size, and diipl matches you with a maker that holds a verified GSTIN and has passed a capacity audit. For mining machines that audit means a test run on the works floor, a look at the welds on the bucket, boom and frame, and the flameproof papers on any machine meant for a gassy mine. diipl also confirms the maker's Importer Exporter Code and sets up the first meeting.
Which details should I give a maker for a mine loader, drill or truck?
Start with the place and the rock: underground or surface, roadway width and headroom, gradient, rock type, and for a drill the hole diameter and depth. Then state the power source (diesel, electric or compressed air), whether the mine has firedamp, and the bucket size or payload you want. The Indian loader standard sets safe working gradients of 1 in 50 on rail, 1 in 6 on rubber tyres and 1 in 4 on crawlers.
Which standards or certifications apply to mining machinery?
BIS lists IS 11311:2011 for loaders used in underground mines, IS 14480:2006 as a code of practice for side discharge loaders in underground coal mines, and IS 7209:1974 for blast hole drilling rigs. Mines also have their own approvals: DGMS may approve specific equipment for use in coal and metal mines, and gassy coal mines expect flameproof or intrinsically safe equipment. See the compliance list on this page.
What is the HSN code for mining machinery?
The code for mining machinery depends on which machine it is, because a blast hole drill, a loader, a dump truck and a mineral separator each fall under a different heading, and no official text settles the line for a side discharge loader: 84304130 when the machine is a self propelled rig that drills blast holes in rock; 84295100 when the machine is a self propelled loader with a front mounted bucket that picks up, carries and discharges broken rock; 87041010 when the machine is a rigid or articulated dump truck built for use off the public road and its net weight without load and its pay load are above the thresholds in the national line, as for a mine haul truck; 87041090 when the dump truck is smaller than the first national dumper line, below its net weight or pay load thresholds; 84741090 when the separator works on ore or other mineral substances other than coal; 84741010 when the separator works on coal. The export shipping bill carries the full 8-digit line and a GST invoice its first 4 or 6 digits, depending on your turnover, so confirm the line for your exact machine before you file. The HS code finder lists every 8-digit line.
Can Indian manufacturers export mining machinery?
Yes, once the machine meets the safety rules of the buying region and the maker holds a valid Importer Exporter Code. For the European Union, Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 lists locomotives and brake-vans and hydraulic-powered roof supports under underground working, and lists roll-over and falling-object protective structures as separate categories. For gassy underground mines the ATEX equipment-group I rules also apply.
Which industries buy mining machinery?
Mining companies and contractors in coal and metal ores buy it. The Indian Minerals Yearbook's manganese chapter describes underground mechanised loading with side dump loaders of 0.66 cubic metre buckets and tyre-mounted rocker shovels, and a battery locomotive for underground ore transport. It also describes an open-cast mine using 100 mm drills, shovels of 0.9 to 1.7 cubic metres and dumpers of 20 to 25 tonnes.
I make mining machinery. How do I find verified buyers?
diipl looks at which mine types and regions need your class of machine, such as underground coal and metal mines, open-cast mines, quarries and ore washing plants, then reaches out to them. Before any meeting, diipl checks that each buyer has a real requirement, a budget, a decision maker and a time frame. Maker names and phone numbers do not appear on public pages.
Do underground mines still buy side discharge loaders?
The Ministry of Coal's technology roadmap says most bord-and-pillar mines of the main public-sector coal company load blasted coal with side discharge or load-haul-dump loaders. It lists phasing them out wherever geo-mining conditions suit, and lists continuous miners, bolter miners and longwall mining as the technologies to introduce. Plan spares and service work alongside new sales, and look at metal mines as a second market.
Do I need DGMS approval before a machine goes into a coal mine?
A DGMS note on its draft approval policy says the Chief Inspector of Mines may approve specific equipment for use in mines under the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017 and the Metalliferous Mines Regulations, 1961. Its table lists battery underground locomotives and diesel-operated machines with a three month field trial, and flameproof machines with a BIS licence required for indigenous products. Approval for a field trial may come first, and regular approval may follow once the mine's performance report is in. Check the final policy with DGMS.
Should I choose a DTH drill or a rotary drill for blast holes?
It depends on hole size and rock. A down-the-hole drill puts its hammer directly above the bit, and compressed air, water or mud drives the hammer and clears the cuttings. Large rotary machines crush rock with a tri-cone bit and need large down thrust and high rotation speed. Give the maker your hole diameter, depth and rock strength and ask which method it recommends and whether the compressor comes on the rig.
What size of dump truck do Indian mines use?
It depends on the mine. For mines where the ore is mostly powdery, the Indian Minerals Yearbook for iron ore says ore is moved short distances by dumpers up to 40 tonnes capacity, and that dumpers or trucks up to 10 tonnes capacity are used for longer distances and barge loading. It also lists hydraulic excavators of 1.9 to 10 cubic metres. Match truck payload to the shovel and the haul road.
